Fun Resources for Primary Education

Engaging Primary Audiences

Learning through construction is not only fun, but also encourages key skills and behaviours to be developed.

Through this, primary students can explore their imagination, use different materials, problem solve and demonstrate the importance of teamwork and social interaction. It also develops their hand and eye co-ordination and their visual and spatial awareness, both of which are essential skills in early years’ development.

They also develop a great sense of achievement and pride to develop and build something that helps to increase their self-confidence.

Ivor Goodsite

Who is Ivor?

Ivor Goodsite is the industry mascot developed by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Ivor is used by construction companies to engage with younger audiences to encourage safety on and around construction sites and to promote all that is positive about the UK construction industry.

Ivor aims to get children excited and interested about the construction industry and to see it as a fantastic place to work.

Using Ivor

Ivor Goodsite is available to the Considerate Constructors Scheme registered sites, companies and suppliers, so whilst they're talking about important messages such as health and safety, it's presented in a fun but informative way and helps to engage with children at their events.

The costume for Ivor Goodsite is available for hire for any industry-related event, along with a number of additional branded products that can be purchased to give away as reminders of the day.

Construction Site Safety workbooks are also available which can be used as an educational resource in the classroom by either teachers or contractors. These workbooks contain safety-themed stories, puzzles and activities.

There are also online games and interactive features that can be accessed on the Ivor

   Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.

Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice. The Code commits those registered with the Scheme to care about appearance, respect the community, protect the environment, secure everyone's safety and value their workforce.

The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole or aimed at the general public, the environment or the workforce.
